I agree. I know there are some writing courses out there that are taught by working writers, so those are the gems to try to find. As an example, I just read the book Pity the Reader, which was written by Suzanne McConnell, sharing tips that she learned from Kurt Vonnegut when he was her professor. What an awesome prof, huh?! It’d be great if there were more opportunities out there to learn from people like that.

But as you said, we need to learn the foundation first. I’m extremely thankful for all of my past teachers for giving me that foundation.
